There is so much passion in the world these days. It doesn’t take long to find it. Take a look at the news or on social media. You’ll find a lot of voices shouting over each other, screaming to be heard.
My question though is this… If everyone is shouting, then who’s listening?
Few voices have been able to bubble past the clutter and find the resonance to stand the test of time. They’re voices that echo through history, imparting knowledge on generations to come.
You may have heard this before:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
When was the last time you read the whole statement?
The meaning of these words hold so much weight to so many people. They’ve also been the swords of justice for revered men like Fredrick Douglas, John Lewis, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and many others.
These men were willing to be unpopular in a hostile world. They were willing to swim against the current and go against the masses to fight for an injustice they were observing in their lives.
