“Who we are is not our pain.” -Greg Wieting

Trauma is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. However, living with trauma isn’t really ideal, especially if it’s causing us to act out in destructive ways or making us withdraw and isolate ourselves from the people closest to us.

Trauma can also manifest itself in physical ways. We might start experiencing headaches, body pain, or problems with our digestion. We might find it hard to fall asleep, or we might start having nightmares.

Many times, people who have experienced trauma don’t even realize that they’re suffering from it. They just think that they’re having a really bad day, or that they’re just overwhelmed with work. So how do we know if our pain is a symptom of trauma or not?

In this episode, I sit with Greg Wieting, the Founder of PRISMA. He developed the Prisma Method from his own healing journey. Today, Greg is helping leaders, students, and individuals heal their trauma from the roots.

Listen in as Greg and I discuss the imprints of trauma so we can easily identify it, how trauma manifests itself in leadership and our relationships, how our healthcare system is failing us with regards to healing the root causes of our pain, and how we can reorient ourselves and ultimately heal from our trauma.

15:42 “The preventative medicine and the preventative measures aren’t necessarily covered as much as some of the treatments that we have, which will address more of the symptoms, but not so much the reasoning behind the symptoms themselves.” -Ted Phaeton

16:58 “So much of healing is just listening and slowing down. Trauma is often too much too soon so healing is actually slowing down so we can be present to the parts of our lived experience that have historically been overwhelming.” -Greg Wieting
